Unit 3 / Authorship in the Digital Age: New Forms of Writing and Publishing
The book has exploded. The material object of the book vanishes into data that takes shape in many forms: e-books, mobile apps, web publications, digital narratives, games, and more. Writers today may be composing for forms and technologies not yet imagined.
How do writers compose and organize texts for publication in multiple formats for multiple devices? Do writers need to adapt different processes when writing for mobile? How do writers produce and publish digital works that are ethical, affordable, and usable for readers?
Unit 3 includes three topic pathways with resources to support projects on:
Project 3 / Proposal to Solve a Problem in Digital Publishing
Project 3 instructions
Compose a proposal that presents a possible solution to a common problem related to writing and publishing in the digital age.
Writers and authors who need to learn how to design and deliver documents to readers using mobile or multiple devices.
To present an informed, research-based proposal to help writers respond to the changing technologies of writing and publishing today.
Proposals are often delivered in the form of slide presentations. You can use Google Slides, PowerPoint, Keynote, Prezi, or any slide presentation tool that works for you.
Optionally, you can deliver your project in the form of a website (using Google Sites or another web tool of your choice) if you prefer.
